Does the Style of Design Die off?

After reading  "To the Point: Interview With Dave Perillo, aka Montygog" , I asked myself  the question "does the design of an era or decade die off?" and looking at Dave Perillo's art I take that as a no. I recently went to Shoprite and found a bag of 50th annaversary Bugles Bag an thought "wow this is awesome." even though I wasn't born during the 60's I could still appreciate the design that was common place. Another way you could say its design is still relevant, because its breaths new life into a age old brand showing its long history with its customers.

Alien fox

How I see the function of design.

After watching the video, "Rethinking the way we sit down" I feel like all technology starts at a phase where it only remain functional, while over time design is smoothing out of the edges to better fit the human needs.

My Reaction to Bad Design

As a graphic designer, the article "How to Ruin a Great Design" by Alice Rawsthorn speaks to me in such a way that I see these small details in the designs and I wonder "How could they have messed that up"? Then it made me go back through my old portfolio from high school.  After browsing my portfolio I realized some of my past mistakes in all my designs (None are perfect), but I see where things didn't fit, where type looked out of place, or where a color just hurt the eyes.
I think some graphic designers gets too excited or lazy about a design that it shows in their design. Some just need the design done and others think they can change a established company or franchise.
